Obama buys flowers on wedding anniversary

Taking timeout from the campaign trail White House hopeful Barack Obama stopped at Penny’s Flowers in Glenside, Pa., to buy his wife Michelle Obama flowers to celebrate their 16th wedding anniversary.

Obama, who had earlier in the day spoke at a rally in Abington, Pa., decided to pick up some flowers before flying back home to Chicago, where he was planning to have a romantic dinner with Michelle to mark the day they wed.

By many press accounts Obama wanted something other than red roses and thought maybe yellow. He settled for white roses with baby breath and paid $47.70 for the bouquet.

The white roses which symbolize virtue and purity are a definite change (no pun intended) from the traditional red roses which means love and romance.

You can criss cross the country in pursuit of the White House but you better not come home without flowers on your anniversary.
