Mother’s Day Gifts – No problem!

April 22nd, 2009

It’s an age old question? What do I buy mom for Mother’s Day. You can look high and low for a gift that will impress her. Spend hundreds of dollars or create a memorable momento from cherished memmories that cost next to nothing. Whatever it is it’s got to be something special.

What do mom’s like anyway? Only you can answer that. As adults or children we know our mom’s better than anyone else so we kind of understand their personl taste.

Yet buying a Mother’s Day gift can be difficult for so many because there are a limited number of items that seem suitable to honor mom. We tend to stick with those gifts that are winners and something mom would appreciate like: gift baskets, jewelry, flowers or dinner with the family.

If you are not looking to get to fancy and keep it inexpensive there are a variety of gifts you can get mom for less than $30. Spring Flowers for Easter and Your Home

April 11th, 2009

spring-flower-gardenEaster has been described as the moveable feast because it doesn’t fall on a set date every year, rather it’s observed anywhere between March 22 and April 25 every year.

Easter, is also Christianity’s most important holiday celebrated in the West on the first Sunday following the full moon after the vernal equinox on March 21. The most simplified explanation of a vernal equinox is an astroligical event that occurs when the sun is directly above the equator.

Beyond the astrological significance Easter has many symbols and traditions that have been celebrated for hundreds of years. Common themes of Easter include rabbits, eggs & baby chicks, because, in Pagan times, they were signs of fertility and new life.

tulips2Lots of Flowers are associated with spring and Easter. White Lilies are popular Easter flowers because they represent a sign of Purity and Goodness. Tulips are a very popular spring flower, that come in a range of colors: pink, purple, red, yellow and orange.

If you are looking for Easter or spring  flowers to decorate your home or dinner table or even as a gift consider some of these spring flowers:  hyacinths, daffodils, iris, daisies, lily of the valley, violets, pansies, mini carnations, gerbera daisies, pussywillow, and flowering branches such as forsythia and cherry blossoms.

If you have interesting springtime flower tips share them here.

Happy Easter!
